Animation

In the 6 lessons of this 70-minute module Brandon Lake uses 2 forms of traditional animation to explain how human beings perceive animation. He also introduces several forms of stop motion animation.

Lessons

Lesson 1. Flipbooks

[length 12:09] Brandon Lake explains the basics of how our eyes and brain work together in viewing animation and demonstrates the creation of a simple flipbook.

Lesson 2. Thaumatropes

[length 11:52] Brandon Lake demonstrates how to create 2 versions of thaumatropes, showing how our eyes and brain work to unify 2 distinct images. 

Lesson 3. Stop Motion Studio

[length 12:03] Brandon Lake introduces basic functions within the app Stop Motion Studio.  

Lesson 4. Object Animation

[length 9:21] Brandon Lake demonstrates how to use Stop Motion Studio to animate an object moving across a table. 

Lesson 5. Claymation

[length 12:39] Brandon Lake demonstrates forces of motion and physical change though animating with clay. 

Lesson 6. Pixelation Animation

[length 11:52] Brandon Lake demonstrates how students can create collaborative scenes by animating people.
